Weekly Waste Free Tips #3: Eco Road Trip With Onya

Whether you’re hitting the road with friends, or taking the whole family along, road tripping involves a whole lot of effort, but with a bit of planning for an eco road trip you’ll have a blast.

One of the things you’ll need to consider is fuel, and we’re not just talking about the car. Watching the scenery go by is hard work, and it’s never long before you break out the soft drinks and snacks.

Have you ever stopped to consider what happens to all those plastic bottles and snack packaging once you clear out the car? Well fear not, we’ve got a few ideas to help you keep things waste free and have an eco road trip wherever your destination.

There’s nothing worse than when you’re on the road in between rest stops, and you’re just desperate for something to drink. Rather than buying overpriced water in single-use plastic bottles, bring one of our stainless steel drink bottles along to keep hydrated.

Our Onya bottles have a wide mouth, meaning that you can top them up with ice before you set off for a refreshing drink when you need it. For everything you need to know about our nifty drink bottles, check out our last blog post.

Pack your snacks

Don’t risk getting hungry on your next eco road trip. Being unprepared for a case of the munchies will most likely lead to some not so heathy food choices – with all of their disposable packaging.

Bundling up snacks is just one of the things you can do with our reusable sandwich wraps, but the humble sandwich can be a great way to prevent rumbling stomachs. The plus side is that once you get to your destination, all you need to do is wipe the surface of the wrap with a damp cloth and you can use it again.

Coffee break

Road trip warriors know that coffee can be huge help in giving you an early morning boost to get get going. Cafes are a huge favourite for pit stops, and while takeaway cups are convenient for getting back on the road as soon as possible, they are also awful for the planet.

Our Onya coffee cups are made from a durable silicone, which keeps your coffee hot without burning your fingers like regular flimsy takeaway cups. Plus you can grab them in two sizes, so whether you’re an espresso or a latte lover there’s a cup for you.
