Onya began in 2004 when our founder decided to sew up a reusable shopping bag that would become our first reusable shopping bag. He used his shopping bag at every opportunity until people started asking for one of their own. Since then, Onya has been able to develop new products to help our customers in the fight against single use plastic that damages our environment. Every piece of single use plastic that we use, or plastic that we don’t recycle, ends up in landfill for years to come. What Are Our Fabric Sandwich Bags Made Out Of?
All of our reusable products are made out of materials that can be recycled at the end of their long lives. Where possible, we try to ensure that we use recycled materials, so we are literally taking plastic waste that would have been in landfill and giving it a new use and life.
The recycled materials that we use, such as rPET which is made from BPA free recycled plastic drink bottles, are food safe and are non-toxic. We use this material as we want all single use plastics to be removed from the environment. While that goal is not possible yet, we want to ensure that as much single use plastic is diverted from landfill and from littering our oceans as possible by using it in the form of rPET fabric.
How do I recycle my Onya Fabric Sandwich Bags?
Your Onya product has a long life cycle, and at the end of that life it can be fully recycled. If you are having trouble finding a recycling facility that will accept any of your Onya products, we will recycle any Onya product for you through our direct partnership with Terracycle. Send us an email at info.uk@onyalife.com, with the title ‘Onya Recycling Programme’ and the list of products that you want recycling, and we will send you all the information you need to know.
