Environmentally Sustainable Products in the UK
The planet has had a bad run for many decades now, and it seems like we’re constantly bombarded by new ways that people have come up with to damage the environment. Luckily, there are a lot of people in the world that care about the planet and there’s been an increase in people making changes to their everyday lives in order to become more environmentally friendly.
The number of people around the world who are now environmentally conscious seems to keep growing and this is a change we are glad to see. Onya was founded in an attempt to give people an easy opportunity to do their part for the planet by buying products that they use in their daily lives, without harming the planet.

What makes our products sustainable?
Sustainability is a word that has been in the minds of customers and companies for the last couple of years, however it is important to know that the products you are buying are truly sustainable. Onya holds itself to incredibly high environmental standards and the following factors are what make our environmentally sustainable products:
- Our reusable shopping bag ranges, backpacks and lunch wraps are made from rPET which is a fabric produced from recycled plastic drink bottles. While we would really love single use plastic bottles to be phased out of existence, we are doing our part in ensuring that the ones that have been produced are safely removed from the environment. The rPET material we use is produced through a mechanical process (rather than chemical) which uses only 30% of the amount of energy that it takes to manufacture virgin polyester. All our products are non-toxic, BPA free and fully food safe.
- Onya products take the place of single use plastics: the point of our products is to provide an alternative for the use of everyday single use plastics. Our reusable bags, certified compostable bin liners and dog waste disposal bags, snack wraps and other products all replace everyday single use plastic and lessen the number making their way into the environment and landfill.
- We are B-Corp certified: It is the only global certification that uses a company’s entire social and environmental impact as a measurement. The certification is an indication of the responsibilities that we have for our workers, community, environment and customers. This certification ensures that we are continually meeting the highest standards of sustainable business set forth by B Labs.
- Giving back to the planet: Onya is a proud member of the 1% for the Planet movement. The organisation encourages businesses and individuals to support their work for the planet. Each year we donate 1% of our total website sales to non-profit environmental organisations.
