Ways To Clean Up Your Workout

Have you ever thought about how much of an impact your exercise routine may be having on the environment?

If you think about it, it can add up. There’s the travel to the gym and back, which generates carbon emissions if you’re driving in a car and there’s the electricity used on all those machines such as treadmills and cross trainers.

Here are some tips on how you can greenify and clean up your workout.

Head outside

Instead of exercising indoors using machines, why not take the time to get outside? Go running, cycling, walking, rollerblading or any other activity that takes your fancy. Maybe there’s a nearby hiking trail you can enjoy a peaceful walk along?

You could even join a social sports team and play netball, rugby, soccer or another fun game.

The upcoming summer is also the perfect time to engage in some sports by the surf, too, such as beach cricket and volleyball.

Don’t use throwaway drink bottles

Plastic bottles are the cause of substantial damage to the environment. If left as litter, they can cause damage to or even kill wildlife such as birds and sea life and pollute the land and ocean.

Even a plastic bottle’s very creation generates unnecessary carbon emissions – why use one when you can drink water from a reusable bottle?

Stainless steel drink bottles are an enviro-exercise essential as they can be used time and time again. They’re convenient, easy to wash and you know you always have water by your side for a hard workout.

Have shorter showers

While many people will indulge in a long shower after exercise, try to keep it short. Not only will this help to save water, it will save on the electricity it takes to heat up that water, too.
